 Garratt

This is just a 20min. luminance shot from Portland Downtown.

Camera: QHY9M
SUBS: 8 X 150 sec

Very little processing, just stack for darks, bias & flats.  I had a huge moon below Garratt at the point of this shot, so I used GradientXTerminator to remove some of the moon brightness, although there is still some left.  Still, I enjoyed the challenge of being able to do this object with a fairly amount light pollution and moon light.

The tracking was difficult due to the noise generated by the moon light and the fact that I learned that the 12V plug that goes into may mount was causing the mount to lose connection with the computer at some times...now it's fixed though but it affected the autoguiding too.

Enjoy it!

M.

Hola Pare,

Hi Neil, Thank you and it's definitely not as good as your magnificent shot of Garret...but I'm slowly getting back into the AP track. Tonight I shot a few shots of M101 supernova. I was surrounded by clouds everywhere but there was a little open patch around M101 although just for 30 min. :)

Regarding the folder name, yeah, I messed up, I went back to see if I could rename the folder but I did not know how to do it. I'll see if I can fix it.

I still hit the USB issue with the mount even when I've fixed the losing-power issue due the flakiness of th 2.1mm 12V connector, but I have a new USB to Serial adapter coming and hopefully that will fix it.

Hey Miquel. Nice shot of the comet.

Do't forget if you make a folder with the same name as the date of your journal entry (i.e. "2011-09-09" - without the quotes of course) and put your image(s) in that folder, it will make the auto-gallery for you and keep the page size manageable.
