M51

My first serious try at M51 ended up having a serious focusing issue. Live and learn!

Still, I'm happy that I could snatch a couple of hours from last night to give it a shot.

Location = Portland Downtown
Temperature = 39F 3.9C

65subs x 2 min. = 2hr. 10min.

63L x 40 Darks x 40 Bias x 40 Flats

Main Telescope = Orion Mak 150 FL=1800mm + Canon 40Dh
Guiding Scope = ST-80 + SSAG
Mount = HEQ5 Pro

The usual suspects for processing = DSS with Mediam Sigma-Kappa Clipping, Photoshop, Carboni and GradientXTerminator.

Enjoy it!

Hi Neil, yes sounds good! Let's talk and you are correct about the LP in Portland. Although, I will probably give it another shot when the skies clear and make sure my focus is good. When the focus is bad, then you leak light, so I will be more careful in my next round.

Miquel, you are getting some fine structure in there. I'd like to talk to you about where your histogram is for these light frames. Pretty high I would imagine since the LP in Portland is ridiculous.

Thanks for sharing.
