M51 from Portland Downtown

Well, you are not supposed to do galaxies from urban skies, still, M51 was close by and I could not resist the temptation.  At barely 32 min., I was not expecting the amount of detail that I was able to pull through some serious processing because 32 min., it is not even enough for dark skies.  For those of you accostume to see M51 from dark skies, don't expect anything remarkable.

For me, it was pure pleasure to do my first object completely remotely after expending months retrofitting my shed to become my official Portland Downtown observatory.  I know, it sounds like oxymoron to have an observatory in Portland downtown, but hey, passion is passion.  :)

Here are the details:

16 subs x 2 min. = 32 min.
30 darks and 30 bias processed with DSS using Sigma Clipping
ISO = 800
External Temperature = 41
Chip Temperature = 47
Processing Tools = DSS, Photoshop, Carboni Tools and GradientXTerminator

Enjoy it!
