The family joined me today and everyone was anxious to see the dark skies and the views through the new eyepiece.  Unfortunately, the skies clouded up during the evening.  We played the “sucker hole” game as we were being chased around the skies by the clouds.  I was thankful that I had a week’s practice of aligning the scope so the GOTO feature was right on the money.

Because the family was tired (and honestly, so was I) we went for the primary targets tonight.  Those were Saturn, Mars, M3, M13, M81, M82 and M57.

Everyone was impressed with the Orion Stratus!

Observing with friends and family is awesome. Too bad for sucker hole observing. Sometimes sucker hole observing from a dark sky is better then a full clear night at home. Dark skies RULE!
