: After our Astronomy club meeting on Friday night 9/24/10. The moon was too bright to image anything else. I tried a variety of combinations.....2x barlow, 3x barlow and even tried to stack two 2x barlows, but wasn't able to bring that combination to focus. I need to work on that in the daytime to see if I just wasn't doing something right. The 2x and 3x shots came out okay, but the seeing really wasn't all that good.
What looks good in the eyepiece at 100-120x, doesn't necessarily hold up at 200x+. The scope and my webcam, and a 2x barlow produce about 220x, The 3x barlow about 350x give or take, with this scope.
6" f/5 (650mm FL) Newtonian
, 2 & 3x barlows
, and a Philips webcam
on a CG5 mount
. These represent about 1,000 frames aligned and stacked in Registax 5
. Some slight tweaking in Paint Shop Pro Photo
. I purposely put a little bluish tint on these images.....it brought out slightly more detail.
* You can see that the larger scale of the 3x image has more detail than the 2x image.
