I am not going spend too much time on the "stupid follies" from last night. Suffice it to say, I have had better nights. First, there was the incessent haze, and then the moon climbed in the sky and made it worse. Then 13 frames into a 60 frame sequence, my camera's battery pack died (forgot to charge it). The pistol grip Battery pack is fairly heavy. Replacing it with a normal battery must have upset the balance. Suddenly, what had been pristine 3 minute subs were no longer so pristine....so I had to drop down to 2 minutes. Removing and replacing the camera lead to a need to refocus....yada yada yada.
I ended up with 119 minutes of NGC 7635 (the Bubble nebula) & M52......... Clearly 2 hours was not enough, but I am not sure more time would have helped. For my setup at least, this object needs a darker sky. I had intended to get 3 hours of data, but a little after 2am the clouds rolled over.....Drat. But, I was just putting the last of my gear away when the clouds decided to move on. Double drat.
I give you the Bubble......well, maybe a quarter of a bubble....a fifth?
