Sunday night, 6/13/10:   Wow......pretty much a total repeat of Friday night.   My guiding is not working, and at this point I am clueless about what piece of equipment is failing......connection to the computer, the camera, the software????

Soooooo, for the time being, I am back to short 60 second exposures.  Disappointing to say the least!

The sky was similar to Friday night.....hazy and light.  Far less dew, but windy early, and high wispy clouds kept drifting over after midnight, until the sky brightened at 3:30am.   I would get a decent frame, and then suddenly a washed out frame.

M27, the Dumbbell Nebula:

33 subs @ 60 seconds per sub, ISO 800

M106 & Friends:

49 of 57 subs @ 60 seconds per sub, ISO 800

Orion 6" imaging Newtonian, CG5 GT mount, Canon 350D (unmodified)
Captured in Nebulosity
aligned and stacked in Deep Sky Stacker
Processed in Photo Shop Elements with Carboni tools and Gradient exterminator

The guide camera was seeing stars, but very, very dimly. PHD kept giving me a flashing & beeping "low SNR" warning. I may have a USB connection issue with the camera. Trouble is, it could be any number of things.

Nice shots! Great galaxies!!! Regarding guiding. I assume that you use PHD. What are the symtoms? Can you see the stars through the guiding camera? Is the PHD Graph showing corrections?
