Reprocesses of my 11/24 data of M31.  With Neil Heacock's tips, and a lot more care in using the processing tools.

The image consists of:    5  flats
                                    5  bias frames
                                    5  darks
39 light frames @ 50 sec per frame

Orion 80MM ST refractor
Celestron CG5 GT mount (unguided)
Canon 350D (unmodified)
Captured in Nebulosity
Aligned & stacked in Deep Sky Stacker
Processed in Photo Shop Elements with Carboni tools, Gradient Exterminator applied as well

I think I am beginning to get the hang of it.  These images won't win any awards, but I can see the potential.

Thats a good image of m31, better than any of mine so far. I want to try it again with the st80 instead of my 8 inch reflector but its a tough one to get the full range on, kind of like the nebula in orion. Tough to get the faint detail without blowing out the bright parts. But good job.

Not sure......some more time on M31 would probably improve the image substancially.

I am also chomping at the bit to image M42, the Flame, Running Man, Horsehead, etc.

Thanks again for you help, Neil......the image above has a fine, delicate look. I like!!!

Barry, this is clearly the beginning of something great. Congratulations on a fine first light M31.

When you can get out again are you going to shoot another target or go for additional time on M31?
