Whoo hoooo.....I got some new equipment: a Celestron CG-5 mount, and an Orion Starshoot II color imager. The mount should be an improvement over my old NextStar alt-az mount, but the camera is just an incrimental step up from my old Meade DSI (that died). The Orion has a larger chip and cooling. We'll see if my pictures improve.
Last night I got out for a while and did some more video of the moon.......need to learn how to use my new camera and the software that came with it, before I attempt to use it in the dark.
These images are mediocre. The seeing was okay, to fair, to terrible....on a second by second basis. The number of frames varies, but on average these represent the best 400 frames out of 1200-1500 frames. 1/50th of a second exposures @ 15 frames per second. I got one semi-useable image with the 3x barlow.....the rest are non-barlowed.
