After attending a local star party the other night, I decided to see if I could duplicate the semi-urban, small telescopic view of M13
. I think this image is pretty close to the wide field, 50x
view of it on an good night. Tonight I am going to change from an 80mm F4, to a 104mm F13....which should roughly duplicate the view through my 12" Dob at about 150x. At any rate it's a good imaging & processing practice subject.
9/7/08: As a follow-up to the above, I tried again for a typical eyepiece view of M13 . . . this time to duplicate a 150x view. I apologize for the poor quality.....had a difficult time getting any kind of focus, and then the scope started tracking poorly on top of it.
Don't laugh, but I thought the star spikes on the last image gave it a little life.....a little sparkle to an otherwise dead looking image. It looks so much more shimmering at the eyepiece. The larger scale image just doesn't do it justice.
