This is only partially astronomical, but wanted to add the experience to my journal.
We drove my step daughter to Pullman, WA this weekend to start her first year in college at Washington State University. On the way home, we stopped at the "Sam Hill" replica of Stonehenge at Maryhill, WA and then to the observatory at Goldendale. Unfortunately, the observatory was closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, so we only got to view it through the fence.
Stonehenge sits on a high bluff overlooking the Columbia river. I had no idea it was as old as it is.........construction was begun in 1918 and completed 12 years later.
