Attended RCA star party at Camp Hancock in Central Oregon. It was cloudy for most of the viewing time both Friday night 5/2 and Saturday night, 5/3.......although we did get a break about 3am on Sunday morning. Managed to get a spectacular view of M82 through a friend's 16" Meade Lightbridge with a 13mm TeleVue Ethos 100 degree eyepiece. The view of M13 was equally impressive......nearly filled the field of view......and resolved better than I have ever seen it. It made the weekend worthwhile.
I have never seen anything like either object at the eyepiece......like photographs. Lots of detail....vivid and clear. Magnified at about 140x, they were simply awesome! There is nothing like aperture and a dark sky!!!!
We also took a side trip up towards Prineville, OR to see the "Painted Hills". Amazing!!
