OMSI Astronomical Photometry, Spectroscopy and Astrometry Workshop 2010
Saturday, April 10, 2010, 8:00 am to 6:00 pm
Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI)
Classroom 1
1945 SE Water Avenue
Portland, OR 97214-3354, USA
Astronomical photometry, spectroscopy and astrometry are ways to measure celestial objects. Photometry is measuring the object's intensity. Spectroscopy is measuring the object's electromagnetic radiation spectrum. Astrometry is measuring the object's position. This workshop presents examples of how amateur astronomers are using photometry, spectroscopy and astrometry.
The workshop labs will demonstrate step-by-step techniques in making photometry and spectroscopy measurements. The spectroscopy workshop labs will demonstrate the principles of spectroscopy instruments.
This OMSI workshop is sponsored and hosted by Jim Todd.
Registration is required because seating is limited and there is no registration fee.
To register send email with full name to David Haworth.
