Welcome to George's Online Astronomy Journal.
Welcome to my Astronomy Journal. I hope from time to time you will stop in and see what new information I have from observing the heavens. As of January 10, 2013 I have done 5044 observations.
I grew up in Stafford, Connecticut and from the age of 16 was always fascinated with the stars. At the age of 17 I got my first telescope, a 4 1/4 in reflector from Celestron. I built an observatory in my back yard down by the river and it served me well until I went into the USAF. Since then and since moving away from Stafford I've had many scopes but currently own two, a 80mm refractor from Celestron and also an 8 in Dobsonian from Orion which I love and hope to upgrade to a 12 in soon.
Not only do I love astronomy but have a degree in astrophysics. I also love to do my small garden and I weave cloth by using my homemade loom and can make cloth up to 34 inches wide. I also read alot using my Kindle Fire HD.
Favorite Sky Object
I would have to say that M 42 and M 43 are my two favorite. I also am fascinated with Sigma Orionis and the Pleiades Star cluster in Taurus M 45.
